Kolimbithres Beach is one of my favourite places to relax and it has been a consistent hit with the art groups that we take there.  There are two good tavernas and one not so good.  We have had excellent fish at H Vigla but for a casual beach lunch we usually go to Anemos.  I have found the people at the Fish-Taverna Kolimbithres seem to not like non-Greeks.

At Anemos you frequently see a bright macaw parrot perched in the trees.  I thought it belonged to the owners until I met it and its owner at the water ski facility.  I went there after hours because I had earlier misplaced my eye glasses and hoped someone had turned them in.  The man there, his dog and his parrot all turned out to help me look again along the beach.  I was ready to quit before he was and when I got in the car an idea hit me.  I called home and sure enough I had put my glasses inside my shoes that I had not put back on.  I apologised to the man for wasting his time and praised his lifestyle.

Now that I see this video I envy his life even more.  http://upi.com/6271850t
Sorry, I can't embed the video but here is a clip from it

Karin Swim 5 April 21

Karin couldn’t resist swimming in the sea on a warm April afternoon.

I stayed on the shore and took artsy photos.

April shadows will bring May flowers.

Lady of the Rock nearr This weekend Karin and I are celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary and a milestone birthday for her—I don’t know if she wants the actual number published through out cyberspace.

Of nearly equal moment is that we were able to collaborate on a project that I have wanted to do for years:  prepare a comprehensive list and description of Paros beaches.  Karin wrote most of the text and I inserted relevant photos that I could find.

Please take a look by clicking the NEW! tab above.

If that doesn’t work try this link:  http://www.parosparadise.com/ParosBeaches.htm

All corrections, opinions and comments are welcome.  Please comment on your favourite Paros beach.

Do you know what RS:X Class is?  Neither do I, but it is going to be big on Paros between 25 April and 4 May.  Nea Chrysi Akti, better known as New Golden Beach, is the site of the 2009 RS:X Youth European Championship.

So this is an RS:X windsurfing board being ridden by Laura Linares of Italy.  She is the 2008 Youth European Champion and a Five times World Youth Champion.

Rather than me blather on about something I know little about—I go windsurfing once a year, weather permitting—check out the official site at http://www.rsxclass.com/events/index.php/rsx-events/rsx-youth-european-championship

All you really need to know is to head over to New Golden Beach during those dates to see world class windsurfing by young men and women.  I suggest you park at Golden Beach and walk the 5 minutes to the venue as the road is narrow with very little parking.

Or I have a villa to rent that is about a 15 minute walk.  See http://www.parosparadise.com/Angeliki

Congratulations to Stuart, Alex, Marie and Alexandra!

They just successfully navigated the Greece bureaucracy to obtain the license for their scuba diving centre: Paros Dive

Only three months late!

So, from yesterday on you can get PADI instruction and recreational dives with the most modern equipment from three transplanted Brits and one Greek.

They are located in the Paros Kiteboarding Resort at Pounda, but take a look at their web site. It has a lot of detail and photos and if you are lucky you will find their web cam of the beach. That link again: http://www.parosdive.com/

Learning by doing: Here is my latest attempt to take short videos and combine them with photos to tell a story. Any comments are appreciated but I know I can do better, so watch for the next one. Cheers

The next round of the KWPT --I am guessing that stands for kite-surfing world pro tourney-- will be on Paros from the 19th to 25th of June.

Find out more at Blog for Kitesurfing and Windsurfing News

P.S. Our Villa Randiana overlooks the Pounda beach where all the surfing takes place. It is still available for that week.
