The tune up works very well and seems to have ironed out any glitches for me. I imagine that a new WordPress release is in the works though (if you prefer to wait). Good luck with your blog and enjoy the World Cup.Bloggohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13263062810928057755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16889028.post-1150210609961245632006-06-13T07:56:00.000-07:002006-06-13T07:56:00.000-07:00My comments on the comments:Carrie, you are welcom...My comments on the comments:
Carrie, you are welcome.

Chana, I really appreciate your frequent comments. I have tried a couple of times to comment on your blog but my firewall gets in the way. As often as not when I turn it off, I forget to turn it back on, so I just don't comment.

Our recent guests were Americans so we had a discussion on variety of spoken English. I have to concentrate to speak American and sometimes will include alternative words in my blog posts. But if anyone is in Europe football is football. If the subject of that game with padding comes up we say American football.

bloggo, Thank you very much for the extensive advice. I have seen others mention the Wordpress alternative. Since I do have plentiful unused capacity on my web hosting, I will give that a try.Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17765845172647852383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16889028.post-1150122496670406402006-06-12T07:28:00.000-07:002006-06-12T07:28:00.000-07:00First I had a hell of a time getting my previous o...First I had a hell of a time getting my previous one up-loaded. Then read in other blogs about how much trouble others were having with Blogger as well. As soon as I can figure out how to move my archives rather than start over, I will.

Michael, you have a few options that I can think of.

1. You can publish your blogger blog to your own hosted web space but continue to use blogger as your front end engine for generating and controlling the content. This is done in blogger under Settings > Publishing. Look for for Switch to: FTP (publishing on your ISP server). I'm not sure why you'd pick this option though since you'd still be saddled with using blogger. If you decide to try this, set up a test blog first to experiment because if you switch your blog over and it does not work out, you may lose your current blogspot address and not be able to get it back.

2. You can use a pay-to-play blog service such as typepad. I bet they would have a way for you to import your blogger posts to get started but I haven't checked this out so do your homework first. They will give you a free account for a short trial period so you can see if you like it before committing. Also, WordPress has a free hosting service you may want to check out. If you choose that, you can get a taste of WordPress to see if you like it.

3. My personal choice would be this: If you have your own hosted web space or are willing to purchase it via a monthly contract, you can use WordPress, which is probably the most popular blogging software out there. WordPress will allow you to import your blogger entries. I did this and it worked like a charm. It will take you a bit of playing around to install and configure WordPress but it's not all that hard and there is a wealth of information, support, and software (themes, plugins, etc) that you can find via google. I am very happy with WordPress and after my terrible blogger experience, I will not put my website on anything other than my own hosted web space—so that I can have control over what happens to it. If you go this route, it is imperative that you use a decent host that has all the latest PHP and other standard software installed on their servers. You can see how mine turned out here:

Blog / Business

Whatever you decide, keep your blog where it is and make the transition gradually. After you are satisfied that your new blog works, post a link on your blogger home page to tell people where your blog's new address is.

Good luck.
